9th Accessible Tourism Day, 12 March 2021

The 9th Accessible Tourism Day took place from 10.20 am to 3:30pm on Friday, 12 March 2021 in addition to the ITB NOW congress (online via ZOOM).

How can touristic offers respond to the needs of holidaymakers with disabilities? What impact does the current pandemic have on the development of accessible services? Which attractive possibilities do already exist for the different target groups of accessible tourism? And what are the chances and challenges for tourism service providers and DMOs related to this topic?

The programme included presentations and discussions, at which experts will look closely at these issues in practical terms and from a range of perspectives.

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) expected again international visitors to attend the 9th Accessible Tourism Day, including representatives from politics, the international travel industry, destination marketing organisations, associations, universities and the media.

The event is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The Accessible Tourism Day was organised with the support of the “Tourism for All“ working group of the German federal states, the working group “Accessible Travel – Barrier-free Destinations in Germany“ and the Messe Berlin exhibition centre.

Consecutive, simultaneous and written interpreting services using qualified professionals have been provided.

The event was held in English and German (simultaneous interpreting provided).

The next "Accessible Tourism Day" is planned for Friday, 11.03.2022.
