Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport is Germany’s largest airport, with over 59,4 million passengers in the year 2023. Served by 82 airlines, it links Germany and Europe to 242 destinations in 94 countries worldwide and is therefore also Europe’s number one transfer hub. The new third terminal now under construction will, when completed, provide capacity for another 19 million passengers annually.

Outstanding Connectivity at a First-Rate Location

Thanks to its location at the center of Germany and Europe, Frankfurt Airport ranks among the world’s leading aviation hubs – and its international importance is continuing to grow. It’s optimally networked with roads and rail connections, making it quick and convenient to reach using all forms of transportation. It is therefore also an ideal transfer point.

Free services are available, such FRA SmartWay as well as movie and gaming worlds, to ensure an optimal quality of stay. For those staying overnight at the airport, a napcab can be booked or transfer passengers can stay at the transfer hotel. The friendly and multilingual service staff can be reached via the Service Points and InfoGates.

Numerous stores and restaurants offer a unique variety of products from all over the world.

Fast accessibility thanks to intermodal transportation and Rail&Fly

Getting to and from the Airport by Train

FRA has a long-distance station and a regional station. Every day more than 200 ICE long-distance connections leave from the long-distance station for the most important German cities and many other destinations elsewhere in Europe. There are excellent long-distance links for getting to Frankfurt Airport from Cologne Central Station in less than an hour or from Stuttgart Central Station in around 70 minutes, as well as from various other cities. The regional railway station also boasts more than 220 connections serving the surrounding Rhine-Main region. Central Frankfurt is just a 15-minute ride away.

A Lufthansa Express Rail service is also available. After arriving at the airport, passengers can head for the AIRail Terminal adjacent to the long-distance station and check their luggage there. This service can be booked worldwide via GDS.

Arriving and Departing by Bus

The airport is served by several bus lines. Lines 14 to 24 depart from in front of Terminal 1 (on the arrivals level). The P36 parking lot for long-distance and chartered buses is located near Terminal 1.

Arriving and Departing by Car

The airport is located right at one of Europe's most important motorway intersections, where the A3, A67 and A5 cross. This makes it extremely easy to get to and from it by road.

Clear strategy for climate protection
Fraport AG will significantly reduce CO2 emissions at Frankfurt Airport and across the Group by 2030. The aim is to cut emissions to 95,000 metric tons of CO2 per year in the Group as a whole and to 50,000 metric tons at Frankfurt Airport.
Fraport’s targets for its Group airports are based on those set by the countries in which they are located. At Frankfurt Airport, Fraport AG has managed to lower CO2 emissions by 50 per cent since 1990, the base year under international climate agreements, despite an ever-growing need for energy. This was achieved by implementing numerous projects focused on lowering the carbon footprint.
Carbon emissions for the entire corporate group shall be reduced to zero by the year 2045. Fraport is leveraging savings in four areas in its efforts to meet its targets:

  • Energy consumption in infrastructure
  • Energy consumption in traffic and transport
  • Energy mix
  • Smart air conditioning
